A group of FCS officials including university presidents, athletic directors and conference commissioners has recommended that the current playoff bracket be expanded from 20 to 24 teams. The new system, which is expected to pass and go into place for the 2013 season, would seed the top eight teams and give them first-round byes and home games in the following round. It has taken college football's elite more than 100 years to be dragged toward a playoff system that will likely still only have a handful of teams.
